Perched high on Crap Sogn Gion mountain top, visitors often refer to the building as a spaceship – hence the slogan for the new direction, “GALAAXY”. The redesign is creating a totally new look for the bare spaces and impassive walls, with colour, different styles, plants and amusing details throughout the building. Among the unique design features include an old Coca-Cola dispenser as a toilet door, and a well-worn parquet floor from the Dolder Hotel in Zurich, which has seen many a dance! Neon signs will offer words of wisdom for our guests and in the very special sticker shop, visitors will be able to personalise T-shirts and more. A small cinema offers guests a place to relax, while the Radio Galaaxy playlist will ensure the perfect mood. Cultural events are also being planned.
Alongside the excellent sports facilities, new spaces will be available where work and leisure can blend seamlessly into one another. The target audience here are corporate clients and private individuals who are seeking new and original ways to improve their productivity at work. We will soon be offering the opportunity to enjoy the snow in the morning before brainstorming on future projects in the afternoon with an amazing backdrop. This new set-up will be in action this winter.
There will also be changes to the range of culinary options. The 360 degree restaurant will receive an urban makeover, and it’s range of dishes will be expanded to include a juice bar and vegan cuisine. Traditional Swiss dishes such as “Gehacktes mit Hörnli” (minced beef with macaroni) will still be on the menu – but with a new twist. Even the fries will be served in new ways! There will also be tasty side dishes such as raclette and local sausages. The popular Capalari restaurant will remain as is.
The Weisse Arena Gruppe is working together with Sami Khouri on the creative implementation of the project. Through his agency, “Rumble in the Jungle”, he has already set up a number of must-visit places, such as the Widder and Negroni Bars in Zurich, the cable car hall in LAAX, as well as culinary events for the Hauser & Wirth Gallery.
The GaLAAXy preview opening is planned for the beginning of December 2017, while the official GaLAAXy opening will take place on January 13, 2018.
